Alcatraz 2026: 10 Years Strong

A Decade of Swimming Toward Justice

Alcatraz, known for the notorious federal prison on center of the island, stands today as a monument to the harsh realities of punitive justice, cutting off prisoners from everyone who loves them. For ten years, FPJ's swim team makes the crossing from Alcatraz across the bay to the shores of San Francisco, connecting the remote island to loved ones awaiting their return.

This isn't just a swim. It's a fundraiser and a statement: that the people we've locked away, and the families waiting for them, deserve better than what the system gives them. All proceeds go toward healing the impacts of incarceration on our communities.

Sponsoring our swimmers supports FPJ's programs for impacted children and families

Ten years in, we're not slowing down — we're going further. Our fundraising goal for our 10th swim is $100,000. Our programs include holiday gifts for children with incarcerated parents; targeted support with daily necessities like groceries, rent assistance, or school supplies; and capacity building for FPJ to organize for abolition. Our community initiatives also include film, painting, and storytelling, all aimed at facilitating safety, growth, and resilience.
