Honestly, we’re new to the DAF world here at Full Picture Justice. Even so, we’re excited to add another tool to our fundraising toolbox because no matter how you give, donations are what allow us to bring the Full Picture Justice difference to our work every single day.
And what is that difference? It’s going the extra mile.
That means looking beyond what happened in the moments surrounding an offense to understand what came before: going back generations, examining family histories and past trauma, and exploring the community conditions, health, education, housing, and systems that shaped a person’s life. No stone is left unturned.
This breadth of work is not always fully funded. But we know the details matter. The piece of a family history that initially seems peripheral may be essential to understanding a person as a whole human being and to achieving a just outcome.
And sometimes, the work becomes much more than investigation. For clients and families facing the possibility of execution or decades in prison, our mitigation specialists can become a kind of life raft in the middle of an overwhelming crisis. We show up when a family member is in crisis. We listen to stories of trauma and loss and continue showing up after hearing things that cannot be unheard. We help people navigate moments of profound uncertainty and isolation.
It is rigorous and deeply human work.
In a system that can isolate and dehumanize people, our team provides something different: presence, connection, and a commitment to seeing the whole person. That is the Full Picture Justice difference. Your DAF can help make this possible.
A donor-advised fund is one way to support this work and DAF grants can help provide the flexible resources that allow us to go beyond what a case budget might cover. Your support helps us keep asking the next question. Make the next records request. Talk to the next family member. Go back another generation. Follow the thread that might otherwise be missed.
So, do you DAF?
If you have a donor-advised fund, consider recommending a grant to Full Picture Justice. Your gift helps us continue bringing investigation, humanity, and the full picture to people facing the most extreme consequences of our criminal legal system.
Justice requires more than knowing what happened. It requires understanding the whole story.
